Kathi is a native New Mexican raised in Los Alamos. She obtained her Bachelors Degree in art Education at Eastern New Mexico University then worked at Valliant Printing Company in Albuquerque as the art director for two years before starting her career at LANL as an illustrator, graphic designer, and web designer. Kathi retired from LANL almost six years ago. While married to John Parker, raising her two children, she has always managed to keep active with her art. She has been in several local galleries, the Fuller Lodge Art Center, local art fairs, the Hispanic Art fair, the New Mexico Arts and Crafts fair, and is a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. In 2016, she had a painting accepted into the Western Watercolor Society Annual show in Colorado and will also be featured in a national watercolor publication Splash 17, to be released this Fall.
Kathi loves to paint and draw a variety of subjects and while she is currently creating people paintings, she also is creating flower and still paintings. In the last year she has added scratchboard art to her skill, renewing a fascination for black and white. She says: "Art is a very important part of my life, I'm blessed in many ways to have the talent and means to create art with light in them to (hopefully) brighten the world."
