Valentina has always knitted and crocheted!

Growing up in Berlin, Germany, needlework was part of her daily routine. Living in the United States, she had the opportunity to study with fiber artists like Kaffe Fassett, Alice Starmore and many others. Valentina was juried into the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia. One of the highlights of her carrier was knitting costumes for the Folger Theater and two important costumes for the musical “Cats”.

Valentina has been teaching freeform art knitting for the last thirty-five years for companies such as TNNA, TKGA, Stitches, clubs and yarn shops.

Since the mid-eighties Valentina knitted one-of-a-kind garments and wall hangings. The most recent piece commissioned was a sculptural wall hanging called “Bamboo” for the Los Alamos Judicial Center.

Valentina enjoys designing for different publications and has been a contributor to many knitting books and periodicals. She shows her art-to-wear garments in boutiques and art galleries throughout the United States and Germany. Early in 2015 Valentina had a solo show at Fuller Lodge Art Center.

Valentina cannot imagine life without knitting and she hopes to inspire many more knitters here and abroad.
